Join the PICS team and apply by February 28th, 2020!

PICS has recently announced a new, multi-year research project focusing on wildfire and carbon, as described in the attached media release and also on the PICS Website. This is a significant new effort that will incorporate wildfire risk in the investigation and development of strategies to minimize the overall long term emissions from our forests. The project is being led by Dr. Werner Kurz, with co-investigators Dr. Lori Daniels at UBC, Dr. Paul Hessburg from the US Forest Service and Dr. Domink Roeser from UBC. This is a new direction for our forest carbon research which we think is of critical importance to the province.

As part of this new project, PICS has created a position for a “Researcher in Residence” who will work at PICS to coordinate some of the research and link findings with the user community. Applications for this position are now open.

To apply, please send a CV and cover letter describing your interest in and qualifications for the position to by February 28th, 2020. In your cover letter, please concisely describe your experience in science policy, and any expertise in wildfire and/or carbon modeling.
